How It Works

Jolly Jars are wonderful item for your own home or to give as a gift. They are simple, but here are some of the most common questions we receive.

How soon should I use or gift my Jolly Jar?

Every Jolly Jar is made with fresh ingredients, which makes the fragrance stronger and more authentic than dehydrated simmer pots. Because of this, they are best enjoyed within a few days of receiving them. If you’re not using or gifting your jar right away, store it in the refrigerator with the lid sealed to extend freshness for up to a week. For the best experience, use your jar before the ingredients start to soften too much.

How many times can I simmer a jar?

Each Jolly Jar can be enjoyed 2–3 times, depending on how long you simmer and how much water you add. After each use, let the ingredients cool and cover with water again.  Just remember to always use within about a week of receiving your jar for the best fragrance

3

Do I use the entire Jar?

It depends on the size of your pot! For a smaller saucepan, you can scoop out half the jar and save the rest for later. For a larger pot or a stronger scent, use the whole jar at once. The more you add, the more powerful and long-lasting the fragrance will be.

4

Is it safe to leave simmering unattended?

For safety reasons, we do not recommend leaving your simmer pot unattended. Always keep an eye on the water level—if it gets too low, ingredients can burn. If you’d like a longer-lasting simmer without as much monitoring, use a small slow cooker on the “warm” setting instead of the stovetop.

5

Can I add more flavors?

Absolutely! That’s part of the fun. While each Jolly Jar is carefully blended with fresh ingredients, you can always add extras from your kitchen—like cloves, star anise, nutmeg, or even a splash of vanilla. Just keep in mind that fresh is best, and any additions should be safe for simmering in water.
